Audio Graffiti album cover

Audio Graffiti

I drove past a large brick wall that had one single tag in the middle of it. A week later I drove past again and a local had painted a block of solid colour over the tag. Well, that was all the inspiration I needed to ask and attempt to answer some questions around misunderstanding, differences in culture, and perceptions of our neighbours.

Digging back into my memories, I had a friend who was quite into the graffiti scene a little while south of where I lived, and there’s some messages in this album that I would have liked her to hear back when I knew her. So I made this album for the chance that it might reach someone else in the same position, in modern times.

In terms on my storytelling, this might be the most complete story I’ve told. I studied quite a few important (to me) films and screenwriting techniques to create the narrative that holds together some of the taboo topics in this album.

If this was the last music album I release, I would be very happy for it to represent my dedication to learning to tell stories.

This album also marks the significant switch from software to hardware synthesisers, which I had plenty of fun setting up, learning, and recording with.
