The Concept: Audio Graffiti originated from amn integrating visual observation: a mark of individual expression (a tag) on a desolate brick wall, swiftly obscured by a block of obscuring colour. This cycle of expression and erasure serves as the basis for an inquiry into misunderstanding, cultural dissonance, and perceptions we hold of our neighbours.
The Narrative: Drawing from memory and cinematic screenwriting techniques, the album constructs a “complete story” of modern isolation and the desire for connection. It is a personal sonic letter to a friend, translated for the present, and an exploration of taboo themes through a structured, instrumental libretto.
The Craft: Marking a pivotal evolution in the Repertoire, Audio Graffiti represents the decisive shift from digital software to the tactile world of hardware synthesis. The result is a more visceral, physical sound, where the unpredictability of electricity mirrors the raw, unrefined nature of the street art that inspired it.
Listener’s Note: Observe the ‘sonic textures’ of this work as a form of auditory street art. Listen for the layers: the ‘tags’ of melody that are often overlaid or obscured by blocks of vocals. How does the musical grit and theological clarity assist each other?
