The Philosophy: Modern music often demands a neat package: fit into an algorithmic formula, appease a demographic, or perform an identity. Making Bucket meant stripping all of that away. Rather than curating a persona to fit into a product trend, the project was an exercise in returning to pure personal essence.
The album was built on the immense joy of creativity; unearthing obscure references, forgotten cultural artifacts, and (seemingly) absurd lyrical left-turns. This album isn’t about testing the listener; it’s about following genuine creativity. When you stop worrying about whether a reference is too niche or whether you’re checking a commercial box, making music becomes a wonderful adventure, again!
The Narrative: Bucket doesn’t arrive with a rigid, spoon-fed concept or a obvious narrative. Instead, the album is an open canvas; built deliberately for the listener to map out their own connections. What begins as a rhythmic non-sequiturs and unexpected punchlines; gradually stacks into an internal logic of its own. As the album continues; recurring motifs and callbacks reward close listening, letting the story become whatever bridges you build as the observer.
Listener’s Note: These tracks were engineered with heavy, thick, analog low end. They move air in deep waves; best experienced on good speakers to rattle your skull.
Buried beneath the chaotic drum patterns are hyper-specific nods to Australian sports, events, language, and cultural flashpoints you might not have thought about in decades. They may have even shaped who you are at your core. Remember?
If a strange reference sparks a forgotten memory or reminds you of a time before life got over-complicated, lean into it! Remembering what genuinely made you laugh or who you were before you started trying to fit in; is the strength of this ‘silly’ album; Bucket.
