It is an inquiry into the space between the “Caterpillar” (the unrefined, grounded self) and the “Butterfly” (the realised, redeemed artist), exploring whether one can find genuine spiritual truth through the lens of a caricature.

The Narrative: The narrative arc is a play on the traditional “Rags to Riches” trope, reimagined as a “Caterpillar to Butterfly” metamorphosis. While the album playfully mocks the performative ego of the genre, it remains rooted in a sincere exploration of redemption and personal evolution. Like a surrealist stage production where the costumes are intentionally bizarre to highlight a deeper human truth, this work uses eccentric lyrics to mask, and eventually reveal, a heart focused on salvation and growth.

The Craft: Marking a period of “Quirky for the sake of Quirk,” the craft of this project lies in its willingness to abandon traditional prestige in favor of creative play. It is the “Off-Broadway” movement of the Repertoire; a collection of high-energy, eccentric compositions that utilise unorthodox song structures and satirical themes.
